2023 marks the 120th anniversary of Julian Godlewski’s birth and the 40th anniversary of his death.
On this occasion, we are preparing an online exhibition reminding the life and merits of Julian Godlewski. We devote this time to honoring the memory of Julian Godlewski, who donated his property to save Polish cultural heritage outside Poland.
His greatest work was the restitution of the Polish Museum in the castle and providing it with funds for its activities. He visited the Museum many times, followed its fate until his death.
Apart from the Polish Museum in Rapperswil, cultural and church institutions in Poland benefited from his generosity.
Despite such great merits, his name remains unknown in Poland. The prepared exhibition is an expression of gratitude and a tribute to Julian Godlewski. An attempt to protect the merits of the most noble rite of the patron of Polish culture in the world from being forgotten, which today is unheard of.
